The forum will be an opportunity for professionals and community members to learn together with experts about the long-term implications of public tragedy and about effective interventions and resources available to those in need, especially children. WHYY artist-in-residence Mary Anne Bartley will lead the group in an artistic experience to show the power of art in grief and healing.

WHYY will serve as a host site for the Hospice Foundation of America's Tenth Annual satellite teleconference. Hosted by Cokie Roberts, the teleconference will look at factors that define a public tragedy and offer insight and advice to organizations and professionals as they support their communities and help those coping with loss. The effects of tragedies such as 9/11, Hurricane Andrew, Oklahoma City and other significant national events will be examined.
