Coming of Age Radio Stories

We are looking for the stories of people who have decided to explore new options, connect and contribute to the well being of their communities.

At some point or another, all of us start thinking about the things we want to do or never had the time to do. Some plan for the future, others are already involved in the future. For many fifty+ people, retirement is seen as an opportunity to open another chapter in their lives where experience, knowledge and passion become an asset to their communities.

Now, it's your turn to tell your story!
Be a part of the compelling Coming of Age radio series on WHYY-FM and WHYY.org.

Here are some stories we were told:

  • A man nearing age 50 decides his job in public relations is not what he wants and goes back to school to study medicine. He's now working as a physician's assistant. He remembers sitting at the table with his high school son, each doing his own homework.

  • A busy manager not quite ready for retirement finds time to teach adult literacy classes because she feels that's the least she can do for people who won't advance if they can't read and write.

  • A retired couple explores photography to express their individual ways of documenting life in their neighborhood.

So Tell Us Your Story

Write briefly what your story is about and fill out the form below. We'll consider your story for the radio series and on our website. We'll contact you to follow up, so don't forget to give us your e-mail address. You can contact us at comingofage@whyy.org
