The War
 WHYY producer Maiken Scott grew up in Germany, and lived there until 1992. The stories of her parents' childhood during the war were familiar to her as she grew up. She knew that her mother's family was in Dresden when the city was bombed heavily in 1945, and that her father had spent countless nights in a basement bomb shelter in Heidelberg. More recently, she has gained a different perspective on German war-time history. |
