WHYY Digital High Definition Television

HDTV allows viewers to receive high-quality, crystal-clear pictures. These pictures run at more than twice the resolution and clarity of standard television and are displayed in a widescreen format with a 16 by 9 width-to-height ratio (16 units wide by 9 units high) compared to today's 4 by 3, which is basically square. HDTV can deliver six-channel CD-quality "surround sound" audio.
