MONDAY JULY 29 - SHAPES IN THE CLOUDS
At one time or another, we've all looked at the sky and imagined we saw various shapes in the clouds, as the pattern-recognizing abilities of our minds interprets the randomness of nature.
Sometimes, portions of the middle of a cloud evaporate or start to fall toward the ground, leaving behind a donut shape. We often see animals in clouds too - maybe it's a butterfly, a caterpillar, a manta ray, or a scary reptile lunging for a bite. Or it might just be good old Snoopy himself.
Sometimes we see parts of the body - a hand, for example; a finger, complete with fingernail; or how about a profile of a human face? Other times, the sky can look downright chaotic and even extraterrestrial - with this one, I can just hear Captain Kirk saying, "Beam me up, Scotty". And it's probably not surprising that these so-called "lenticular" clouds are sometimes reported as UFOs.
