WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 13 - CONFERENCE THIS WEEKEND
This coming weekend, noted primatologist and environmental activist
Jane
Goodall will headline a panel of distinguished experts in a conference at
Haverford College, outside of Philadelphia.
Titled "Global Responsibility:
A Reason for Hope," the
conference
will focus on our individual and collective
responsibilities to seek solutions for global problems.
Other speakers at the conference include
Wangari Maathai,
founder of the Greenbelt movement in Kenya, a group that's planted several million
trees and educated millions of people about deforestation. Also scheduled to speak
is Lenedra Carroll whose organization,
Higher Ground for Humanity,
works to bring safe drinking water to developing countries such as Bangladesh
and Tanzania.
The conference is free to students and teachers from area schools, while there's
