MONDAY, JANUARY 31 - THE BOUNDS OF FEBRUARY CLIMATE
With a new month just around the corner, let's explore the extremes of February weather: How about 15 straight days when the temperature gets no higher than 30 degrees? That happened in February 1979.
In contrast, would you prefer high temperatures of 40oF or above nearly every day, with 13 days reaching at least 50oF? That was just two years ago, February 1998.
Want snow? More than 30 inches piled up in February 1899. But there's also hope for those of you who could do without it - we've had 6 Februarys in the last 50 years with no measurable snow.
So what does this February hold? I'll try to give you some clues tomorrow night.
