TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 1 - FEBRUARY MONTHLY OUTLOOK
It's the beginning of a new month, and I'm going to go out on a limb and present a general outlook for the weeks to come. I'll try to pin down a few patterns or tendencies that might give us clues about how temperature and precipitation in the coming month will compare to what's considered average.
The first half of January was very mild, the second half the exact opposite. In terms of this variability, I think February will be similar, with some very cold times but with moderation in between. I'd lean toward temperatures ending up near to slightly below average for the month.
Precipitation is always difficult to get a handle on in the long-range. One thing to consider: If we do see temperatures that show a lot of variability, then we'd want to be on the lookout for a potential ice storm sometime during the month.
