WHYY Digital High Definition

HDTV allows viewers to receive high-quality, crystal-clear
pictures. These pictures run at more than twice the resolution
and clarity of standard television and are displayed in a
wide screen format with a 16 by 9 width to height ratio compared
to today's 4 by 3, which is basically square. HDTV also has
six-channel CD-quality "surround sound" audio.
From 7 PM to 3 AM weekdays and 5 PM to 3 AM weekends, WHYY
will be broadcasting HD programming. Tune your DTV receiver
to 12.1 (or 55.1 on some models) to watch it. During this
time, if a specific program is not scheduled, you will see
a PBS demonstration "loop" of short videos. You can see a
sample by clicking the link below. You must have the Real
Player to view it. Keep in mind that the video quality
will be very low as you view it over the Internet, but the
sample will help you get a sense of the HDTV video dimensions.
