Sunday, August 3

12:05 AM Good Rockin' Tonight: The Legacy Of Sun Records
A musical entrepreneur in Memphis, Tennessee, Sam Phillips, created Sun Records and gave musicians an opportunity to create a new sound that spawned a legacy. The independent label was the place where Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf and a host of others got their start in the 50s. The program presents the stories behind the music from Phillips and Sun veterans; and it includes rare footage of those founders of rock, chronicling their impact on generations of musicians. Also featured are exclusive studio performances of Sun signature songs by some of today's best-known stars, including Paul McCartney, matchbox 20 and Third Eye Blind.
