The 1980s were marked by the production of more critically acclaimed, original programming for national and regional audiences than any other time in WHYY-TV's history. At the close of the decade, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting recognizes WHYY's achievement with five honors for excellence in local programming, more than any other station in the country.
