President Obama presents Terry Gross with National Medal of Arts and Humanities

Today President Obama awarded the National Humanities Medal to WHYY's own Terry Gross.

Other National Humanities Medal and National Medal of Arts (also being awarded) awardees include actors Mel Brooks and Morgan Freeman, composer & musician Wynton Marsalis and record producer & songwriter Berry Gordy.

The National Humanities Medal is awarded to individuals or organizations whose work has deepened the nation’s understanding of the human experience, broadened citizen engagement with history and literature or helped preserve and expand Americans’ access to cultural resources.
