The WHYY Public Media Commons provide space and equipment to encourage creativity and learning, using a wide variety of digital communication tools to enhance conferences and meetings.

The Independence Foundation Civic Space and Conference Suites

The Civic Space is an open forum space, flanked by Studio One and three smaller conference rooms - The Delaware, Sharp and New Jersey conference rooms - that can also be transformed into one large conference room, with interchangeable walls to provide for smaller breakout spaces. Lincoln Financial Digital Education Studio (LFDES)

The Lincoln Financial Digital Education Studio is a flexible presentation and event space, equipped to record and distribute performances, demonstrations, lectures, professional development training, meetings and dinners/events. Capacity: 300 Seated

The Public Commons Portal

The Public Commons Portal is commonly used as an adjunct space to the LFDES for networking breakfasts or cocktail receptions before an event. The Portal includes three large-screen LED displays, where logos and/or video displays are used to acknowledge corporate sponsors. Capacity: 150 Reception

Media Production Classrooms

The media production classrooms and meeting spaces, including two fully equipped classrooms with iMac editing stations, are places for teaching, innovation and experimentation. Audio and video production equipment with non-linear editing, sound mixing and professional production lighting are available to students, individuals or corporate employees, along with additional editing suites and conference space. Lincoln Financial Digital Education Studio (LFDES)

  • The 3000 square foot production studio and event space features a high quality content space, optimized to support an unparalleled creative and educational experience. Content production at all levels, professional and personal development lectures, theatrical HD screenings, interactive education, large and small special events, live broadcasts, Webinars and evolving techniques such as Skype imaging, are all possible.
  • A major presentation and effect feature of the room is 16 'x 9' high definition, rear projection display screen. A high performance, brilliant image is ensured by a dual lamp, digital projection system with precise image alignment mirrors.
  • A state of the art, professional stage and production lighting systems with over 220 programmable lighting circuits provides the ultimate palette of room design options.
  • Production level, high end acoustics and structural sound isolation is deployed throughout. The exterior walls are roof are designed and dimensioned to totally eliminate downtown exterior street noise.
  • The studio floor is an extremely level, durable, epoxy resin that ensures, stable camera movement and multiple space utilization.
  • Two independent sound systems: System #1 is a movie theater style, 5.1 surround sound system with a large sub-woofer. System #2 is a direct wave sound re-enforcement system that significantly improves the aural intelligibility during presentations, lectures and training sessions.
  • Multiple HD cameras are located throughout the studio and are robotically controlled from the supporting Public Media Control Room.
  • Broadband Internet access is provided at wired training tables

Public Media Control Room

  • A complete, media production control room supports the Studio activities.
  • All major technical production elements required to capture, switch and distribute "live" productions, events and interactive experiences are present.
  • State of the art, computer based systems provide state-of-the-art, hybrid image switching, composition, sound mixing, lighting and graphics control.
