at the edge of a new century, we dedicate this Annual Report to people
whose vision and dedication has created the promise of a bright future.
It has been a dynamic journey from black and white to digital and Internet
technology. The progression has supported our growth from a small and
local educational broadcasting service to a station providing multi-faceted
programming to a large and diverse audience. Building on years of experience
and community involvement, we have just completed a year that saw us take
a quantum leap toward new horizons. Paging through images from the past
five decades, we see old favorites who are with us still. Programs that
thrilled us as youngsters entertain our children and grandchildren today.
While our commitment to meaningful programming remains unchanged, the
delivery systems have multiplied. Today you can find WHYY anywhere, anytime.
You can listen to us in your car, watch us in your living room or download
us in your office. We have become more than just a great broadcasting
station. Intimately joined to the needs of this region, we are fulfilling
our role as your community's communications partner. In time, WHYY will
become the one thing this diverse community has in common. Photographed
in WHYY's new Technology Center, the images in this Report will give you
a first look at WHYY in its new setting. We invite you to visit our building,
enjoy its Civic Space and watch the workings of broadcasting in progress.
We invite you to be part of our future.
