A Capitol Fourth As much a Fourth of July staple as cookouts, parades and fireworks, this annual concert spectacular has become an integral part of millions of Americans' Independence Day traditions. Actor Barry Bostwick hosts this year's party, with Amy Grant, Vince Gill, and Clay Aiken heading a star-studded lineup of pop and country musicians. Live from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol building, the concert will feature patriotic classics, including performances of the "1812 Overture" and John Philip Sousa's "Star and Stripes Forever" by the National Symphony Orchestra, and contemporary favorites before concluding with a brilliant fireworks display above the Washington Monument. There will be a live simulcast of the concert on 91FM. Sunday, July 4 at 8 p.m. |

WHYY 91FM Highlights Visit WHYY online for complete WHYY 91FM program information. Outright Radio 2004 In this award-winning five-part series, producer-host David Gilmore lends his microphone to members of America's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities, allowing their personal experiences to illustrate the trials and triumphs of being openly gay in the 21st century. Each episode explores a different topic, including the changing state of HIV/AIDS in the gay community; divorce among gay couples; the reaction of the U.S. Navy to gays in its ranks; and one immigrant's story of being both gay and Hispanic in America. Poignant, humorous and personal, Gilmore's interviews reveal broader issues of self-awareness, personal identity and relationships that are familiar to everyone, not only those in the gay community. Monday, June 28 through Friday, July 2 at 11 p.m. |
