| About "Know Your Dough"
Kids today are buying powerhouses: spending upwards of $40 billion annually, and influencing family purchases in the range of $600 billion. Knowing this, the creative minds  behind Cyberchase decided it made "cents" to educate kids about essential money skills like spending, saving and budgeting, and came up with the "Know Your Dough" financial literacy campaign to do just that. Celebrate Tax Day by viewing the four money-minded episodes with your children (described at right), and then try some of the fun Web activities and printables.

Try these fun activities -- and learn important money skills while you're at it! With "Make a Buzz Bank" and "My Savings Diary," you can keep track of the money you save and spend. Make your own "Gollywood Game" to play with family and friends!

Four action-packed episodes on April 15!
CyberSleuths Jackie, Matt and Inez, along with their wisecracking pet bird Digit, must put their money smarts to the test in four special episodes of Cyberchase on Friday, April 15 beginning at 3 p.m. on WHYY TV12! It's all part of Cyberchase "Know Your Dough" Day, which kicks off in New York City when Harry and Bianca ring the opening bell at the American Stock Exchange. So save up your TV time in order to earn a whole lot of fun and knowledge with Cyberchase.
Balancing Act Shari Spotter and the CyberSquad are hired to shoot a film for  Frogsnorts Sorcerers Academy, but Hacker's interference seriously depletes the budget! The kids will have to figure out how to finish the film with the limited funds they have left. 3 p.m.

Web Activity: Shopping
When your parents go to the grocery store, ask to come along and try out this fun game! First, print out the instructions for "Shopping Activity," and some snelfus. Make a list, and budget how many snelfus you think you'll need for each item. At the store, you can test your estimations against the actual prices! |
The Snelfu Snafu (2 parts) The team faces their biggest challenge yet in the two-part special "The Snelfu Snafu," when  they must save enough money to outbid the evil Hacker for a lost encryptor chip! Can they do it in time, or will Hacker place the highest bid and take over cyberspace? 3:30 p.m.

Web Activity: Savings Diary
Saving money is a smart thing to do, and it's also fun when you have help from Cyberchase! Follow the directions to make "My Savings Diary" where you can keep track of the money you save and spend. Ask as adult if you need help!

Trading Places While trying to rescue Dr. Marbles (pictured), the kids crash on cybersite Nowhere, and as their  luck would have it, so do Hacker and his cronies Buzz and Delete. The kids and Digit must trade and barter to get the pieces they need to rebuild their cybercraft and save Marbles -- but will they do it before Hacker? 4:30 p.m.

Motherboard needs your help! Once your choose your character, she will send you on a secret mission to find objects throughout Cyberspace. You'll have to use math skills and money smarts -- like earning, saving and trading -- in order to beat Hacker…and win the game! |
