With performances in Canada, Finland, Germany, Israel as well as throughout the United States Jonathan Biss has already established himself as an international piano virtuoso. His engagements over the past two seasons include recitals in Chicago and the Mostly Mozart Festival as well as duo recitals with violinist Miriam Fried in Italy and Israel and a televised concert from Helsinki. In 1997, Mr. Biss performed at Wolf Trap as the Shouse Debut Artist, an award presented by Isaac Stern, with who he appeared in recital. He has participated at Marlboro Music and in the Ravinia and Great Lakes Music Festivals. The 1998-99 season marked his New York debut on the People's Symphony Concerts Series. Since the fall of 1997, Mr. Biss has been studying with Leon Fleisher at the Curtis Institute of Music.

Guarneri String Quartet

Founded in 1964 at Marlboro Music, the Guarneri String Quartet is an amazing achievement of four diverse personalities, all original members, and is the longest artistic collaboration of any quartet in the world. This season will mark the 36th and final season for the original cast of Arnold Steinhardt and John Dalley, violins; Michael Tree viola; and David Soyer, cello. In addition to mastering the finest works in the existing quartet repertoire, the Guarneri String Quartet has often been commissioned by leading composers to premiere chamber and orchestral works. Cellist PETER WILEY has excelled in the wide-ranging arenas of concerto, recital, chamber and orchestral performances, while also remaining a passionate teacher. A native of Utica, New York, he began attending the Curtis Institute of Music at age 13 under the tutelage of David Soyer. He is currently on the faculty at SUNY Purchase and the Curtis Institute of Music.

The first Bach Choir in America enters its second century with a return trip to the Philadelphia area for a festive holiday concert. The program begins with a prelude of Bach organ works played by Jeff Brillhart, music director of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian, on the spectacular Reiger Organ and ends with the audience joining the Bach Choir in singing traditional carols.

Over the past two decades, Pulitzer-Prize-winning composer and pianist William Bolcom and mezzo-soprano Joan Morris have captivated audiences across the nation and abroad. The husband-wife tandem has won a wide following with their expansive repertoire, complemented by a sophisticated yet unpretentious stage presence audiences have come to expect. Together they have received the highest acclaim for their interpretations of American popular songs from the late nineteenth century through the twenties and thirties, as well as the latest songs by Leiber and Stoller - not to mention Mr. Bolcom's own cabaret songs with poet-lyricist Arnold Weinstein.
