What will you find in the Learning Lab at WHYY?

The Learning Lab Planning Study identifies four major sections of the Lab building.

Lincoln Financial Digital Education Studio
Central to the Learning Lab will be the Lincoln Financial Digital Education Studio, where organizations throughout the region will hold performances, demonstrations, lectures, and meetings before live audiences. Often these events will be streamed or datacast live to participants at home, in offices, or in schools, where they can participate remotely. All events held in the Lincoln Financial Digital Education Studio will be digitally recorded and repurposed in multiple ways.

Digital Showcase
The Learning Lab lobby will be a gallery of digital productions. A series of large panel screens will present a changing display of digital images, PBS digital productions, school curricula, and products developed in the Learning Lab itself. Before events, coffee and snacks will be served in this area, so guests can relax, surrounded by ever-changing images. In conjunction with local art schools, the Digital Showcase will host exhibitions of digital art.

Training Space
This is a state-of-the-art classroom where experts will train representatives of all community sectors in the art of digital production. Accommodating up to 16 people, the training space will look more like a production studio than a traditional classroom and will be designed to handle the type of hands-on, project-based instruction that will be the hallmark of the Learning Lab.

Project Shop
The Project Shop will be a place for innovation and experimentation, where community partners and Lab staffers will meet to brainstorm around new concepts, explore projects, and create productions. This is also where Lab staffers will offer advice on connection, production, and repurposing of content.
