School Ain't Cool When You're Stressin'

"School Ain't Cool when You're Stressin'" was written, directed, photographed, and edited by Media Lounge members Valerie Abrams, Britni Choice, John Gaymon, Alex Kaslowitz, and Jocelyn Smith - all juniors and seniors in Philadelphia public schools. The 14-minute documentary short explores the students' theory that personal stress is the leading cause of truancy for Philadelphia high school students. With interviews of teachers, administrators, truancy prevention professionals, concerned citizens, and most of all students, the city's truancy problem is examined through the words of those most affected by it. The video has been shown at various community screenings and was aired on WHYY's digital channel.
