The Learning Lab continues to partner with various public and private schools in the Delaware Valley. Partnerships include:

  • Half-day field trips at the WHYY studios in Wilmington and Philadelphia.
  • Assistance with student productions.
  • Teacher professional development in video production and media literacy.
  • Creating video production curricula for schools from the ground up.

Russell Byers Charter School PSAs
A partnership between the Learning Lab and The Russell Byers Charter School puts a Learning Lab instructor in the school once a week for video production classes. This year's sixth grade class wrote and produced four p.s.a.'s on blood diamonds. They informed the general public about the tragedies that occurred in Africa, along with steps on how to make sure you are purchasing blood-free diamonds.

Parkway Center City African American History Videos
Watch the video
Parkway Center City High School partners with the Learning Lab to create short videos on locations in Philadelphia that played roles in the city's African American history. These videos explore Washington Square, the Johnson House, and the Divine Loraine Hotel.

Cassidy Elementary School PSAs
One of Cassidy Elementary's sixth grade classes had an oppurtunity to experience video production first hand with an instructor from the Learning Lab at WHYY this year. The students created four PSA's, each on a different topic: homelessness, nutrition, teen depression, and education.

A reaction to the rising violence among Philly teens, the movie seeks the opinions of high school students and experts on why teens are killing each other at near-record numbers and what can be done to stop it. Produced by students at Swenson High School in Northeast in conjunction with Learning Lab partner Earth Force.
