Quick Review: ALIEN RESURRECTION is a redux of the great sequel ALIENS -- with an extra European flavor. If you can put the awful ALIEN 3 out of your mind and remember how atmospheric and scary the first two installments of this twentysomething series of films were, then, you should enjoy this new version. Ripley's humanity is gone -- both in the plot and in the playing -- but Sigourney Weaver's mega-attitude is a fascinating replacement. What they rediscovered was the power of slime and suspense -- two of the elements missing in the last outing. Winona seems to be miscast, but her aloof quality makes much more sense once a plot twist is revealed. Jeunet is no Scott or Cameron, but the director brings a Euro-hip edge to this film that keeps your interest. If the first two films in the series were four stars -- and they were -- then this one is . . .
