SEE AND DO:
Barney and Arthur clean up on TV12
Now
we see. Spring
is the traditional time for spring cleaning, right? You can use
the season and your favorite TV12 programs to turn cleaning up
into an exercise about the environment. Barney, BJ and Baby Bop
launch into spring ("Hidden Treasures," April 5th at 8:30 a.m.
and 12 noon) by cleaning their tree house. The clean-up project
becomes an exercise in discovering new ways to use old things.
In the process, the children learn to make the earth a cleaner,
happier place. Barney makes the task fun by staging an unusual
treasure hunt.
On April 9th at 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., we find Elwood City's Park in sad shape on "Arthur Cleans Up." After grumbling about it, the kids find they have been volunteered to clean it up. Even though it's a lot of work, in the end they decide it feels great to make a difference.
Now we
do. Use
these episodes to discuss the concept of cleaning up with your
children. See if you can enroll your class or family in a community
clean-up program (see the community listings on page 3). Or clean
up your own yard or building during a fun treasure hunt Barney-
style. |
