The best advice my mother gave me...

Cynthia Kreilick, Coordinator, WHYY On-Air Community Outreach:

"One day, shortly after my father died at age 62, I found my mother dancing to one of their favorite Benny Goodman tunes in the library. This chance encounter reassured me that my mom would carry on, despite her enormous loss. So, the lesson is: When the going gets tough, put on a good record and dance!"

TV12 celebrates Mother's Day, Sunday, May 9th at 3 p.m. with "MOMS." The program celebrates the wisdom, insight and humor of America's mothers, while highlighting the amazing diversity and the eternal truths they embody. New York City resident Janice Warner, pictured with daughter Georgia, is prominently featured in the special.

Nancy Karibjanian, Anchor, 12 Tonight:

"I remember my mother telling us when we were young, 'Be thankful you have your sisters.' She lost both of her sisters and obviously missed them terribly. To this day, my sisters Patty and Susan and I are very close. We talk constantly on the phone even though we are all geographically separated."

Nancy Lewis, Campaign Coordinator, WHYY Campaign for Independence:

"That's easy-she taught me to love... and everything flows from that! I know it sounds simple and, really, it is! Sometimes I think the truly important things are simple-and for a reason!"
