What is the Ready To Learn Program? It is a national initiative funded by PBS and the U.S. Department of Education. The Ready To Learn Program combines children's television with community outreach and innovative educational materials.
At WHYY, Ready To Learn includes:
- non-violent educational children's television programming
- free or low cost workshops
- local educational outreach
- children's book distribution
- partnerships with national and local community organizations
Together, these resources help families, caregivers and teachers across the region use public television to help meet the national educational goal that all children will begin school "Ready To Learn".
One of the most important features of Ready To Learn is the View, Do, and Read model.
