Dr. Myrna B. Shure returns to WHYY FM, now offering parenting tips on the air and on the web - tips about back-to-school, holidays, and other important parenting issues in today's society.
Myrna B. Shure, Ph.D is a developmental psychologist at Drexel University in Philadelphia. Her conflict resolution and violence/substance abuse programs have been nationally recognized for their research and service to schools and families by the US Department of Education, the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), the Center for the Study of Prevention and Violence (BluePrints), and the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP).
She is author of the I Can Problem Solve (ICPS) curricula for schools, Raising A Thinking Child Workbook for parent educators, and two trade books for parents, Raising A Thinking Child, and Raising A Thinking Preteen. She currently writes a column, "Your Child," which appears Wednesdays in the Philadelphia Daily News.
In addition to her current parenting tips, Dr. Shure hosted a 13-part series on WHYY-FM in 1998, called Talking About Kids. Tips from guest experts are available, and most are also available on RealAudio.
