WHYY Seeks Area's Longest-married Couple; Will Feature Live On TV12 Saturday, March 16
WHYY is looking for lovebirds. The public broadcasting station serving Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware will celebrate Valentine's Day by launching a search for the couple in this region who has been married the longest. The winning pair will be invited to renew their vows live on WHYY-TV on Saturday, March 16, during an afternoon of wedding-related programs.
Couples may submit their names by calling 215-351-0534, by sending an email to wedding@whyy.org, or by mailing their name, address, telephone and date of marriage to:

WHYY
150 N. Sixth Street
Philadelphia, PA 19106
The deadline for entries is Monday, March 11 at 5 p.m. Area residents are welcome to nominate other couples who qualify. WHYY also welcomes photos (nonreturnable) of the wedding couples, which may be displayed online or on the WHYY-TV set during Wedding Day programs.
WHYY Wedding Day on March 16 falls during the station's March member drive. Programs beginning at 1:30 p.m. include cooking shows featuring preparation of wedding treats and, at 5 p.m., ROYAL WEDDING BELLS, a look at some of England's most famous weddings. WHYY will also present during the afternoon wedding planners and craft experts will offer tips to anyone planning or attending a wedding.
Anyone who becomes a member that afternoon is eligible to have their upcoming wedding announced during the broadcast. Special wedding-related thank-you gifts will be available. The list is expected to include items such as an offer by Chef Jim Coleman to plan the wedding menu for up to three couples; the use of WHYY's satellite facilities to link up out-of-town family members for someone's wedding and complimentary music, flowers, or bridesmaid dresses.
"The search for the longest-married couple is one more way WHYY connects with our community," said Craig Hamilton, Executive Director of Development. "It's also symbolic of the long-term relationships we are able to build with our members who support the station year after year."
