Invites you to the Spring 2004 Preview Forum
Globalization: Making the Local Connection
An alphabet soup of acronyms of international trade policies and players - NAFTA, FTAA, WTO, G-8, IMF, GATT - is transforming the Philadelphia region. From job security and education, to immigration and natural resources, global forces are impacting local lives. And, depending on who is doing the talking, globalization may be welcomed or denounced.
The Preview Forum, a national public engagement media initiative, creates the opportunity for community members and news professionals to explore together the promise and problems, the new creativity, the nagging concerns caused by economic globalization in our region, and the challenges to the news media as they respond to the changes.
Moderated by Chris Satullo, Editor, Philadelphia Inquirer editorial page, the Preview Forum consists of a short screening of national TV shows that raise issues concerning the economic effects of globalization, and deliberations and recommendations on specific questions relating to the economy of the Philadelphia region.
