Department of Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge will receive WHYY's 2004 Lifelong Learning Award - for the Advancement of Community Leadership, Education and Opportunity - at the WHYY Presidentıs Dinner on Monday May 24, 2004. The cocktail reception is scheduled for 5:00 PM at the WHYY Technology Center, 150 North 6th Street, followed by an elegant dinner at the National Constitution Center (directly across the street).

Secretary Ridge is being presented with this award for the leadership impact he had on WHYY while he served as Governor of Pennsylvania. During his term, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania contributed $1.5 million toward WHYYıs conversion to digital broadcasting as well as $2.5 million toward WHYYıs Learning Lab. This support has allowed WHYY to dramatically expand opportunities for lifelong learning for citizens of the region.

The 2003 WHYY Presidentıs Dinner recently received the national Public Broadcasting System's Award for Excellence for a Special Fundraising Event. We hope you will join us for another banner year!
