The WHYY Women's Leadership Series Set For Second Season of Seminars
WHYY and some of the most talented female business leaders today are offering women a series of interactive lectures on the skills necessary for career growth and effective management. Each of the events will be hosted by WHYY's Tracey Matisak. This WHYY series is sponsored by the Forum of Executive Women. WHYY partners include the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, and the PA Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.
Putting the Wow in Your Presentations
Power presentation, marketing and mentoring are the topics for this year's series. The first interactive session kicks off on October 2, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the WHYY Technology Center with Putting the "Wow!" in Your Presentations, with Marilyn Nyman, president of Nyman Associates, Inc. offering the essentials to presenting in a business setting.
Everyone can become a more confident and compelling speaker. Nyman will focus on the three key ingredients of effective presentations: style, substance and content. By the end of the program participants will have practical techniques to strengthen their professional communication style, create powerful, persuasive messages and connect with the audience.
Marketing Your Magic
On October 9, at 6:30 p.m. Marjorie Brody of Brody Communications Ltd., will present "Market Your Magic." In this interactive session participants will learn that every successful company has a marketing plan and so should the individual. In today's business climate, the ability to market oneself can make the difference between people remembering an individual as a brilliant leader or barely remembering them at all.
This highly interactive program provides concrete, memorable and immediately applicable tools to help one unleash their potential and achieve their goals.
Mentoring the Next Generation
This discussion on mentoring will be led by Andrea Zintz, President of Andrea Zintz and Associates. Christine James-Brown, President and CEO of United Way of Southeastern PA, and other business leaders will also speak Tuesday, October 23, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
This is the second year WHYY has offered a leadership course for women as part of its life-long learning mission. This series is a WHYY Civic Space event with a goal of bringing people face to face to exchange ideas and knowledge.
Each of the events will be held at the WHYY Technology Center at 150 N. Sixth Street in Philadelphia from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The cost for individual lectures is $35 for members of WHYY or the associated sponsor and partners, and $50 for non-members.
