WHYY Celebrates Philly Jazz
Live performances January 20/21, 2001

In conjunction with the January airing of the Ken Burns TV series on jazz, WHYY CELEBRATES PHILLY JAZZ on Saturday, January 20 and Sunday the 21st. Three events in the community - a concert, an evening at a jazz club and a church service - will feature virtuoso Philadelphia artists and honor our region's place in the extraordinary history of this uniquely American artform. After immersing yourself in the 10-part TV show, break out to celebrate with your friends and neighbors. You will find below all of the event information, including the opportunity to register on-line for the Benny Golson Quartet concert.

Saturday, January 20, Concert, 5:30pm (doors open at 5:00)

Headliner: Benny Golson Quartet
Opening Act: Spectrum Big Band directed by Tommy Gryce, featuring Jimmy Oliver
Tap Dancer: Mello King

Independence Seaport Museum

Admission: $25 WHYY members; $40 non-members; $20 students and seniors
Tickets can be purchased at the door at 5pm the day of the concert.
