WHYY Women's Leadership Series
The WHYY Women's Leadership Series: Personal and Professional Lessons from the Pros, co-sponsored by the Forum of Executive Women, will continue each Wednesdays night through October from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Speakers and topics are:
Juliet Goodfriend of Strategic Marketing Corporation, speaking on "Mentoring for Achievement & Balance." October 4
Kathleen O'Brien of Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads, speaking on "Effective Negotiation & Influence." October 11
Dr. Emma Chappell, noted financial expert, speaking on "Investing & Finance." October 18
Select speakers from weeks one through five (including Rosemarie Greco of GRECOventures and Molly D. Shepard of Shepard Executive Resources) will discuss "Women: A Look at Our Future." October 25

A Force More Powerful
Members of WHYY and the World Affairs Council will meet to screen and discuss "India (1930-31)," an episode from the fall PBS series A Force More Powerful: A Century of Nonviolent Conflict on Monday, October 23.
"India" highlights Mohandas Gandhi's campaign of nonviolent civic disobedience, which protested British colonial rule in India.
The series' producer will speak during the moderated discussion. A reception will be held at 5:45, followed by the program at 6:15 p.m. An optional tour of WHYY will follow the program. WHYY Family Focus Seminar
Mother Goose Asks "Why?" is a family science program for parents of three-to-seven-year olds. This program is made possible by PNC bank and offers adults an exciting and practical approach to stimulating a young child's enthusiasm for science. Learn how to use children's literature to promote your child's reading and literacy skills at a WHYY Family Focus Seminar from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 16.
Sally Anderson, executive director of the Vermont Center for the Book in Chester, VT will conduct the presentation, featuring hands-on activities from the center's nationally-renowned program. Participants will also receive one of the books.
