WHYY's Secret Garden blooms at the Chester County Flower Show
The wonders of reading will be in full bloom at WHYY's Secret Garden at the Chester County Flower Show, April 19 to April 22. Located in the children's exhibition area, little visitors can enjoy this special "Secret Garden" full of books.
Kids can also listen to stories read by WHYY personalities, pick their favorite stories to read from a selection of books and decorate their very own bookmark. WHYY partners include the J.Franklin Styer Nurseries and The Chester County Library.
Mike McGrath, host of 91FM's You Bet Your Garden, will also broadcast the program live from the flower show.
The children's area will feature over 500 horticultural creations from elementary school kids throughout the Delaware Valley. With a literary theme this year, children will use fresh and dried flowers and plants to create whimsical arrangements from favorite stories such as Harry Potter, The Princess and the Pea and Rapunzel. Ribbons are awarded for the most imaginative designs.
Hosted by QVC at QVC Studio Park in West Chester, PA, the Chester County Flower Show runs from Thursday, April 19 through Sunday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Proceeds benefit the Family Service of Chester County.
WHYY members will receive $1 off admission by presenting their WHYY MemberCard or Applause mailing label. Regular ticket prices are $10 for adults; $5 for children three to 12.
