WHYY is inviting kids and their parents to learn all about the excitement and adventure of life during the American Revolution at a special Liberty's Kids event on Saturday, January 25 from 10 a.m. to noon. The event will be held at the WHYY Technology Center, 150 N. 6th Street in Philadelphia, just two blocks from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall.
Kids will watch an episode of Liberty's Kids, the animated series introducing school-age children to the stories and people involved in the birth of our nation, which airs weekdays at 4:30 p.m. on WHYY TV12. Veteran journalist Walter Cronkite, who voices the character of Benjamin Franklin, leads the all-star cast, which includes Billy Crystal, Michael Douglas and Whoopi Goldberg.
Kids will do crafts inspired by this "revolutionary" period in America's history and learn more about what life was like for colonists in the 18th century.
They will also join in the fun as MadCap Theatre performs skits from Revolutionary events and sing along karaoke style to the Aaron Carter performed theme song from the show! In addition to all the fun, every family that attends receives a 2-for-1 pass to the Lights of Liberty show, compliments of Lights of Liberty.
They can also enter the drawing to win a "Revolutionary Lights of Liberty Show Birthday Party" for up to 15 people, including admission to the Lights of Liberty show, cake, and party hats and favors, compliments of WHYY's MemberCard partner Lights of Liberty.
Watch Liberty's Kids weekdays at 4:30 on WHYY-TV.
