A close encounter with Mars on 91FM's SkyTour

On August 27, Mars will move within 34 million miles of Earth for the first time in an estimated 73,000 years, giving earthlings an out-of-this-world opportunity to view the Red Planet. On "Mars Close Up," a special edition of 91FM's SkyTour, hosts Derrick Pitts and Dave Heller will explain the significance of this phenomenon and discuss relevant, comforting, timeless, enlightening and even uplifting information about Mars.

The show will also feature interviews, fact-nuggets, music and astronomical quips, encouraging listeners to learn more about the night sky. Be sure to tune your headset radio to 90.9 FM as you go out into your backyard to witness this historic event. For more information about SkyTour, visit www.whyy.org/skytour. -- Mary Eileen O'Connor
