Cyberchase celebrates moms and teaches math

Mother's Day, celebrated this year on Sunday, May 11, is a time for people to honor and appreciate mothers.

On a special new episode of Cyberchase airing Friday, May 9 at 4 p.m. on WHYY TV12, the evil cyberspace villain Hacker is determined to ruin the holiday for everyone, forcing Jackie, Matt and Inez and their pal Digit to come to the rescue.

The kids must think and act quickly to stop a runaway train carrying a rare flower that can be harvested on this one day only. Throughout, they help kids learn to use decimals and teach them about the importance of the day.

Children can also visit www.pbskids.org/cyberchase to make their own Mother's Day card with Motherboard and the Cybersquad!

Cyberchase airs weekdays at 4 p.m. on WHYY TV12. The Mother's Day special is one of four new episodes of Cyberchase airing this month.

New Angelina Ballerina adventures

A year has passed since lovable Angelina Ballerina leapt from the pages of the popular storybooks by Katherine Holabird and twirled across television screens to star in her very own animated series, airing Sundays at 9 a.m. on WHYY TV12.

Featuring the voices of actress Finty Williams as Angelina and her Academy-Award winning mother Judi Dench as dance instructor Miss Lilly, Angelina Ballerina follows the star-struck mouse as she experiences the joys and frustrations of growing up and teaches children positive values, such as the importance of honesty and determination.

This month, young viewers can tune in for some big new adventures featuring little Angelina and her friends:

"The Magic of Dance" William the Conjurer makes Angelina "disappear" while he is rehearsing his magic act. May 11

"Teamwork" Angelina and Alice learn the importance of teamwork during the village tandem race. May 18

"Staying Still" Angelina gets the scoop of a lifetime when she helps her father at the Mouseland Gazette. May 25
