TV12 Movie of the Month
Cicely Tyson (right) received an Academy Award nomination for her breakthrough role in Sounder (1972), the inspirational story of a family of black sharecroppers in rural Louisiana. She also won an Emmy Award for her portrayal of a 110-year-old former slave who recounts her life in the segregated South in The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman (1974).
