Taste of the Book and the CookWHYY offers a "taste" of things to come
Edited by Mary Eileen O'Connor

WHYY is inviting culinary connoisseurs to mix and mingle with fellow food lovers while sampling superb specialties from some of the region's finest chefs at the Taste of The Book and The Cook, sponsored by Commerce Bank and Temple University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, on Wednesday, February 19 in the Regency Ballroom of the Loews Philadelphia Hotel at 12th and Market Streets.

From 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., chefs from some 30 restaurants and caterers will serve up preview tastings of the delectable dishes that more than 80 guest cookbook authors will prepare as part of the 19th annual KitchenAid(R) The Book and The Cook "Restaurant Series" from March 14 through 23, during which the authors will team up with the staffs from these participating restaurants to create special menus based on their latest writings.

Christina Pirello, host of WHYY TV12's Christina Cooks, and Chef Jim Coleman, host of 91FM's A Chef's Table and Flavors of America on TV12, will also be on-hand to prepare some unique recipes and to share their own special tips and techniques.

Admission to the Taste of The Book and The Cook is $35 for WHYY members and $45 for non-members and includes food, wine, beer and spirits. (Attendees must be 21 years of age.) Tickets can be purchased by phone at (215) 351-2098 or online.
