Join the Revolution!

Kids can travel back in time at WHYY

WHYY is inviting children and their parents to learn all about the excitement and adventure of life during the American Revolution at a special LIBERTY'S KIDS event on Saturday, January 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at the WHYY Technology Center, 150 North 6th Street in Philadelphia.

Kids will watch an episode of LIBERTY'S KIDS, the animated series introducing school-age children to the stories and people involved in the birth of our nation, which airs weekdays at 4:30 p.m. on WHYY TV12. Veteran journalist Walter Cronkite, who voices the character of Benjamin Franklin, leads the all-star cast, which includes Billy Crystal, Michael Douglas and Whoopi Goldberg.

The kids will also do crafts inspired by this "revolutionary" period in America's history, and learn more about what life was like for colonists in the 18th century. They can even enter the drawing to win a "Revolutionary Lights of Liberty Show Birthday Party" for up to 15 people, including admission to the Lights of Liberty show, cake, party hats and favors, compliments of Lights of Liberty.
