Scientist Ellen McCallie from the WHYY-TV series Rough Science, which transports five scientists to remote locations and challenges them to complete specific tasks using only indigenous materials, explains how paper is made to a young WHYY member during a special event at the Franklin Institute Science Museum. WHYY members enjoyed lunch with McCallie and went on a scientific scavenger hunt through the museum.

WHYY member Ellie Seif, who grew up near Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, presents Scott Simon, host of NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday, with a copy of a post card signed by baseball legend Jackie Robinson. Seif and her friends used to hand the players self-addressed penny post cards to get their autographs. Simon spoke to members about his new book Jackie Robinson and the Integration of Baseball at WHYY.

More than 150 members had a chance to meet Simon at a special reception in the WHYY Independence Foundation Civic Space. Simon, a die-hard baseball fan, discussed his love of the game and his immense respect for the legendary Robinson.

President and CEO Bill Marrazzo greets WHYY board member Lyn M. Ross and her husband George Ross at a special celebration in the Independence Foundation Civic Space marking the debut of WHYY's newest original production It's a Mitzvah!: Jewish Life in the Delaware Valley. Mrs. Ross served as chair of the fundraising committee for the film project. Members enjoyed dinner, watched the live broadcast of the program and met the program's producers.
