Community EventsWHYY encourages young adults to "act out" WHYY is inviting young performers ages 14 to 17 to share their creativity at the special Family Focus event "Join the Music, Join the Show" on Saturday, January 18 at 10 a.m. at the WHYY Technology Center, 150 North 6th Street in Philadelphia. In this free, interactive workshop presented by WHYY and Temple University Music Prep, Dr. Christine Anderson and William Mayo from Temple's Boyer College of Music will involve participants in enhancing their performance skills and will demonstrate techniques these young adults can use to gain confidence as they perform in musical theater. From 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., some 30 participating restaurants and caterers will serve up preview tastings of the delectable dishes that will be prepared by guest cookbook authors as part of the special menus featured during "The Restaurant Series" from March 14 through 23, part of the 19th annual KitchenAid® The Book and The Cook, one of the country's premier culinary events. Admission to the Taste of The Book and The Cook is $35 for WHYY members and $45 for non-members and includes food, wine, beer and spirits. (Attendees must be 21 years of age.)
