WHYY hosts global conference addressing workplace ethics
Edited by Mary Eileen O'Connor

Reports of unethical business practices have dominated media headlines this year, causing many people to question the future of corporate America. How can workers begin to raise the standard for values in the workplace and develop practices based on sound ethics and quality judgments?

At the 7th Annual World Wide Lessons in Leadership® Teleconference on Tuesday, November 12, a special global satellite conference hosted by WHYY at the Technology Center, some of today’s top thought leaders and business executives will share their ideas and strategies for reestablishing a true foundation of trust for every company employee, customer and investor.

Keynote speaker Dr. William Bennett, former U.S. Secretary of Education, Drug Czar and best-selling author of The Book of Virtues, and featured presenters Dr. Tom Morris, author and founder of the Morris Institute for Human Values; consultant Ron Archer, the current Values Coach to the Office of the Presidential Pilot, Air Force One; and Dr. John Izzo, author of Values Shift and Awakening Corporate Soul will address participants live via satellite about "Values-Based Leadership: Restoring Character and Confidence in the Workplace."

There will also be a special on-site presentation in Philadelphia by Vanguard Group founder John Bogle on his book Character Counts: The Creation and Building of The Vanguard Group.

The event includes an executive panel moderated by Winning Ways author Dick Lyles and featuring Lynne Brewer, author of House of Cards: Confessions of an ENRON Executive; Donna E. Carey, national president of the Society of Government Meeting Professionals; and Ray Reilly, dean of executive education, at the University of Michigan.

The conference begins at 10:30 a.m. and concludes at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $199 per person for WHYY members and $219 per person for non-members and includes lunch and two coffee breaks.

The WHYY Technology Center is located at 150 N. 6th Street in Philadelphia. Additional group, nonprofit and government discounts are available. For more information about the conference, and any of WHYY’s interactive satellite seminars, call (215) 351-2053 or visit www.whyyadvantage.org.
