One Year Later
Helping those in need: Workers from the American Red Cross were among the first people to come to the disaster areas in New York City and Washington, D.C. on September 11, providing much-needed relief for those affected by these tragedies.

Each year, the American Red Cross responds to countless disasters, such as hurricanes, floods and fires, providing food, shelter and other services. Learn more about how you can help the efforts of the Red Cross by donating money and supplies, giving blood or volunteering. The Web site also features a Photo Essay section, which includes poignant photos from the aftermath of September 11. www.redcross.org

The Civil War
History on display: There is no doubt that Pennsylvania played a pivotal role in the Civil War. For three days, thousands of soldiers fought and died at Gettysburg, a battle that would ultimately turn the tide of the war.

Opened in 2001, the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg, PA is the only museum in the United States that portrays the great American tragedy from start to finish and on a national scale, examining the war from the viewpoints of both North and South. Among the hundreds of artifacts on display are General Robert E. Lee's personal pocket Bible and the kepi worn by General George Pickett at the Battle of Gettysburg.
