WHYY presents "Join the Music: Join the Circle"
Would you like to introduce your child to the world of music but aren't sure just how? Bring your child to the WHYY Technology Center on Saturday, September 28 as WHYY kicks off its 2002-03 Family Focus seminar series by teaming up with Temple University Music Prep to present "Join the Music: Join the Circle." Developed by Temple Music Prep and designed for parents and children (ages 2 to 5), this free program is nationally recognized as one of the first in the country to use musical experiences to stimulate cognitive development in very young children. Parents will learn activities that they and their children can do at home, such as rocking and bouncing games, singing in various tonalities and meters and visual stimulation exercises such as waving colorful scarves. Children will also be exposed to some instruments and games that encourage musical responses. Presented by Temple University's Dr. Beth Bolton, the sessions take place at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in the WHYY Independence Foundation Civic Space at 150 N. 6th Street in Philadelphia. Registration is required. For more information and to register, call WHYY's Member & Audience Services at (215) 351-0511. |
