WHYY members have a picnic at the Technology Center

More than 600 members gathered at the WHYY Technology Center in July for the 2002 WHYY Member Picnic. Members enjoyed lunch on the plaza, tours of the Technology Center and question-and-answer sessions with WHYY-FM hosts Ed Cunningham, Terry Gross and Marty Moss-Coane. The event also included special prize opportunities, give-aways and music by WHYY staff member Lisa DeStefano.

WHYY Community Relations Manager Sandie Chatfield welcomes Jack Shapiro as he arrives at the sign-in table. More than 70 WHYY staff members greeted guests, served food and beverages and gave tours of the Technology Center, making sure everyone who attended the picnic had a great time.

Barbara Krassenstein gets a cool drink from volunteer Terry Williams. Many local companies provided picnic food and give-aways, including the Campbell Soup Company, the Federal Baking Company, Rita's Water Ice, The Head Nut, Herr's and Pat's King of Steaks.

Mom Kristin Kimmell and sons Thornton (right) and Ellis play with the cute Sagwa cubes at the kids' table. There were plenty of activities to keep the youngest WHYY members busy.

Bill Payne and his children William and Michaela fill up a bag with bookmarks, stickers, posters and other goodies to take home and enjoy. Kids had fun coloring and decorating pictures of their favorite characters.
