Trash or Treasure DayFind out what your collectibles are worth at
WHYY's Trash or Treasure Day

Do you have valuable antiques and collectibles lurking in your attic or basement? Perhaps they are priceless family heirlooms, rare collectibles or simply objects that have sentimental value.

Bring your prints, paintings, toys, china, memorabilia, clothing, small furniture, glass and jewelry to WHYY's Trash or Treasure Day at the Historical Society of Delaware on Saturday, October 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and let the Historical Society's panel of experts help you discover the value of your items:

  • Silver, prints and paintings: Thomas Beckman, collections manager at the Historical Society
  • Documents and manuscripts: Connie Cooper, manuscript librarian at the Historical Society
  • Rare books: Thomas Doherty, manager of Baldwin's Book Barn
  • Glass, china, ceramics and silver: Alex Mullin, experienced eBay trader, teacher and collector
  • Furniture, glass, china and ceramics: Timothy Mullin, director of museums at the Historical Society
  • Dolls, textiles and costume jewelry: Dorothy Wardell, founder and owner of the Costume Company in Wilmington

The Historical Society of Delaware is located at 505 Market Street in Wilmington. The cost for one appraisal is $20 for WHYY members and for members of the Historical Society and $25 for non-members. Participants can also receive two additional appraisals at $10 each.

To register, call WHYY's Member & Audience Services from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (215) 351-0511 or the Delaware Historical Society at (302) 655-7161. Register online, or print the form and mail it in.
