Celebrate Our History

Preserving the Past: Learn how drawings, prints, maps, posters, historic wallpaper, musical scores, photographs and other paper-based items are preserved for future generations at the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts in Philadelphia, which specializes in the treatment of art and historic artifacts on paper.

At the center's Web site, you can read about the various treatment services available, find out when the next workshop takes place and link to other sites with information on the conservation and preservation processes. www.ccaha.org

A Tribute to Heroes: Each year since 1990, WHYY has brought its viewers all the music, pride and patriotism of the National Memorial Day Concert, which honors those who have served the nation in times of war, from the West Lawn of the United States Capitol Building.

Explore the Web site to learn about the honorees of this year's concert, view video footage from past concerts, link to the Web sites of various veterans' organizations and share your own thoughts and memories. pbs.org/kaze/memorialdayconcert/memhtml

The Greatest

The Muhammad Ali Center: Get inspired at the official Ali Center Web site to learn more about boxer Muhammad Ali, who is not only thought of as the greatest athlete of the 20th century but is also called the United Nations Messenger of Peace.

The center itself is located in Louisville, Kentucky (Ali's birthplace), and its mission is to preserve and share the legacy and ideals of Muhammad Ali, to promote respect, hope and understanding and to encourage adults and children everywhere to be as great as they can be. www.alicenter.org

PrideFest

PrideFest Archives: Did you miss last year's PrideFest? You can listen to several of the 2001 events at www.whyy.org/pridefest, including "Race Relations in the GLBT Community," featuring a panel discussion about how stereotypes affect the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) communities and "Gender in the New Millennium," an examination of how gender roles and relationships are evolving.

Do you want to know what's going on this year at the nation's largest annual GLBT symposium and festival? Visit www.pridefest.org for information.
