WHYY hosts live caregiving forum and teleconference
Beginning at 8:30 a.m., local and national experts will discuss the various losses inherent in the aging process, in keeping with the theme of the day. At 1:30 p.m., WHYY will serve as a host site for the Hospice Foundation of America's ninth annual National Bereavement Teleconference, "Living with Grief: Loss Later in Life." Moderated by National Public Radio's Cokie Roberts, the live interactive satellite teleconference will examine the needs and barriers faced by our aging population and explore ways that a wide range of professionals, even those who do not directly deal with the elderly, can more effectively assist those coping with the range of losses as they age and help those who may be affected by the death of someone in later life. The information in this program will be of use to a variety of professionals that deal with aging and loss issues -- hospice workers, nurses, physicians, nursing home administrators, health care aides, clergy, funeral directors, counselors and social workers. While geared toward professionals, family caregivers and other laypeople will also find a great deal of helpful information. The WHYY Technology Center is located at 150 N. 6th St. in Philadelphia. For information on how to attend, call (215) 351-2095 or send an e-mail to widerhorizons@whyy.org. More details about the teleconference and WHYY's Wider Horizons service can be found on the Web at www.whyy.org/widerhorizons. |
