What's in a name?
The Graves Girls: WHYY members and fans Gail Graves (left) and Lynne Graves Stephenson met international opera star Denyce Graves (center) during a special reception at Toto restaurant after the singer's performance in the Opera Company of Philadelphia's first-ever production of La Perichole at the Academy of Music.
Getting technical
WHYY Vice President & Chief Technology Officer Bill Weber explained how WHYY's February town meeting "What is a Good Death?" was streamed live on the Internet to Suzanne Mintz, President and founder, National Family Caregivers Association (far left); Sherri Roff, project coordinator for the national newspaper series "Finding Our Way: Living with Dying in America;" and Vicki Weisfeld, senior program officer, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Preparing for the interactive online chat were Brian M. Duke, President of the Board of Directors for Children of Aging Parents and Willo Carey, Executive Director of WHYY's Wider Horizons service.
On bread alone
Chef James Barrett of Philadelphia's Metropolitan Bakery gave WHYY members Adrienne Patroni (far left), Jenny Pierce and Janet Shoemaker a few tips on baking the perfect loaf of bread. This session on bread baking was part of WHYY's "Cooking in Real Time" culinary series.
Who's calling, please?
Faculty and students from Philadelphia Mennonite High School took calls from future WHYY members during WHYY-FM's recent spring membership drive. Many individuals, as well as volunteers from a variety of organizations across the Delaware Valley, provide a friendly voice during WHYY's annual television and radio membership drives.
