A Message to Our Members As we begin the new fiscal year, we are faced with a number of strategic challenges, most especially a substantial increase in programming and production costs. Just the same, I am pleased to report that we are able to maintain our core programs and initiate some new ones while sustaining your member benefits. As WHYY’s services continue to evolve through advances in technology, we have observed that more of you are electing to receive information about WHYY’s on-air programs and off-air services and events online at www.whyy.org. It is evident that our Web site is quickly becoming a primary source for you to obtain TV and FM schedules, program features and highlights, news about WHYY in the community and special pages for parents and children. Because of this trend and due to the escalating costs of printing and mailing a monthly program guide, we have made the difficult decision to end the production of Applause magazine and to invest this money in the ongoing development of WHYY's programming and services. The August Applause will be our final issue. In addition, we have decided to stop producing Applause Online and to focus our attention on providing more in-depth, up-to-the-minute and interactive content online at www.whyy.org and through our weekly In the Loop member e-mail, which features TV and FM program highlights, invitations to exclusive member events, MemberCard Specials and more!
