Now in its third year, the Y Kids Club gives children ages 1 through 8 the opportunity to connect with WHYY at special, off-air events that engage their minds and encourage them to explore the world.

Kids Club members come together at regional libraries, museums and theaters for unique experiences, such as screenings, character meet-and-greets, craft activities and storytelling. In fact, this past spring, the Y Kids Club was awarded the Pennsylvania Library Association's Best Practices Award for its "Breakfast with Caillou" event at the Free Library of Philadelphia.

A Family Membership to WHYY enrolls a child or children in the Y Kids Club. As members, children receive a welcome letter; a subscription to BUZZ, the quarterly kids newsletter; a special birthday gift; and their own MemberCard. Parents get benefits too, including invitations to special workshops facilitated by WHYY's Ready to Learn trainers.

This fiscal year, Y Kids Club members read stories with Angelina Ballerina at the Morris Arboretum; met George Shrinks at the New Jersey State Aquarium and Piggley Winks at the Garden State Discovery Museum; and attended special meet-and-greets before Sesame Street Live! and Dragon Tales Live! at the Wachovia Spectrum. More than 3,200 Y Kids Club members and their families experienced the excitement of these and other special events.

The Y Kids Club is gearing up for more engaging and inspiring face-to-face experiences for our young ones in the coming months.
